Welcome to Miss Wrigley’s R1 Class. On here you can learn all about what is happening in Reception and see all of the exciting things we have been learning!
Teacher: Miss L Wrigley
Teaching Assistant: Miss Fowler
This half term our topics are ‘Who am I?’ and ‘Autumn’. We will be looking at a range of non-fiction and fiction books related to ourselves and Autumn; including ‘The Leaf man’. We are going to learn about what makes us unique and special, as well as looking at similarities and differences between ourselves and others. Later in the half term we will also look at Autumn and the changes that occur in this season. We will also explore this topic further in our indoor role play area and in continuous provision.
In Phonics we will begin the term by practicing our listening and attention skills and phonological awareness skills through completing a range of fun Phase 1 phonic activities. We will also begin Phase 2 phonics by learning how to identify and hear initial sounds.
In Literacy we will be looking at a range of fiction and non-fiction texts to help us to learn about ourselves and Autumn. We will be learning how to recognise and write our names and start to develop our cursive handwriting. We will also gain a love of books through regular story sessions and access to our indoor and outdoor reading dens.
In Numeracy we will be covering a range of topics. We will be learning to recognise numbers up to ten and practicing counting to ten and beyond. We will also be learning to recognise common 2d shapes.
In PE we are working on travelling safely and in different ways, such as crawling, hopping, skipping, jogging and running.
In EAD we are learning how to explore and change sounds and how we can make sounds using our bodies and instruments. We will also be completing a range of creative activities during continuous provision and in adult led activities.
In UW we will be looking at similarities and differences between ourselves, our family and our peers. We will also look at changes over time through our Autumn topic.
