This half term we are learning about ‘Growth’ We are looking at the life cycle of a duckling and have some very special fluffy visitors coming to stay to help us with this. We are also looking at plant growth and the human life cycle and the life cycle of a butterfly.
In Literacy we are looking at the book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We are focussing on sequencing the story and discussing the changes the caterpillar goes through to become a beautiful butterfly. We will be consolidating our learning on days of the week and taking part in ‘Talk for Writing’.
In phonics, we are learning the following Phase 2 digraph sounds; ck, ff, ll, ss and moving on to Phase 3 phonemes. We are looking for words that contain these sounds and having fun learning them.
In Maths this half term, we are continuing to build on our number recognition to 20. Also, we are looking at counting up to 20, we will be counting claps, jumps and objects that can’t be moved. We are using our Kagan structures to work as a team to complete some of this learning.
Our class has PE every Thursday and we will be focussing on moving freely with confidence in various ways and perfecting our ball control by practising catching and throwing, and passing and kicking.
Our class change our reading books every Wednesday.
Our class is given homework every Friday, which is due to be back in school on a Wednesday.
